Pearls are grown in freshwater lakes, rivers, and ponds, predominately in China. Although many are white and resemble the Akoya cultured pearls in shape and size, they can also be produced in various shapes and in an array of pastel colors.

Many freshwater pearls don’t have a bead nucleus — only a piece of tissue — resulting in a pearl with thicker nacre than the Akoya.

Some healers use pearls to help balance body rhythms and hormone levels with lunar cycles and to harmonize human beings with the natural world.

  • The inner glow of pearls is thought to tap inner wisdom and nurture love. Pearls are also believed to signify innocence and faith.
  • Freshwater Potato Pearls, with silver-plated pewter accent bead bar necklace
  • Wire-wrapped on sterling silver wire.
  • finished with a sterling silver chain with a spring ring clasp.
